Zephyrus
Zephyrus was the greek god of the west wind, described as the most calm and favourable of the wind gods, and often associated with spring and procreation. In a departure from classic greek styling Zephyrus is anthropomorphised as a frog, a creature also associated with good luck and fertility in many cultures from around the world. Inspiration is also taken from Fūjin, the Japanese wind god, who may share a common origin with another Greek wind god Boreas, through cultural exchanges over many years along the Silk Road.
This piece can be worn as a traditional netsuke, with the left forearm forming a natural himotoshi allowing for a cord.
