Titipounamu Stump Netsuke

A tiny Titipounamu (rifleman) nesting in a crack in a tree stump. The bird and stump are carved from a single piece of deer antler, with the beak and eye inlaid with buffalo horn, and a yashabushi stain used to define the tiny features of the bird.

The rear of the piece features himotoshi holes enabling the piece to be worn and presented as a netsuke. A one of a kind piece.

Materials: deer antler, buffalo horn
