A curious little seal pup hand carved from native NZ tōtara wood, wearing a bucket hat carved from bone with the finest of details. Details such as the eyes, nose and mouth have been painted with acrylics. This is the first time I have combined wood and bone in a piece like this, and the result is incredible. Both materials have been polished to an incredibly smooth finish and have to be felt to be truly appreciated. The seal is finished with walnut oil and renaissance wax for a natural look which brings out the best in the wood. This unique hand carved figure is a one off piece and would make a great addition to anyone's collection.
Please note, this is a small and delicate wooden figure, and as usual should be considered as a piece of art as opposed to a toy.

Bucket Hat Seal Carving
These carvings are hand-carved art made from natural woods, and as such should be treated with care. If the figure requires cleaning, use a damp cloth and dry any moisture off the carving once clean. Carefully buffing the figure with a clean, lint-free cotton rag will bring the shine to the finish. Direct sunlight will slowly fade the more vibrant colours of the wood over long periods of time.
